Our method

RugRoom publishes rug buying guides mapped to 9 styles, 9 rooms and 12 standard UK sizes. This page explains how we choose what to write, what we do not claim, and how the site earns.

Who writes this

Everything is edited by Emma Whitfield, Interior stylist, UK. Emma has fitted rugs into 200-plus UK homes as an interior stylist since 2016, on jobs ranging from period Georgian sitting rooms to open-plan new-builds in Bristol and Manchester. She writes every review pass. Automated systems draft the initial page skeleton; a human replaces every claim, price bracket and fitment note before publication.

What we do

• Cross-reference specs: manufacturer sheets, Amazon.co.uk listings and public buyer reviews, dated at the time of the check.
• Match to UK conventions: bed sizes (double / king / super king), room proportions, standard hallway widths, UK metric dining tables.
• Apply materials science: BS EN 1307 (rug wear classification), BS EN 13501-1 (fire behaviour), UFHMA tog guidance for underfloor heating.

What we do not do

• No lab tests. We do not physically wear-test rugs. Any claim that reads "we tested" would be false. What we do is compare, verify and read reviews at scale.
• No live prices. Amazon prices move daily. Any figure on the site is bracketed ("£90–£180") with the date we saw it – never a single quoted price that will be wrong tomorrow.
• No fabricated authorship. One editor, named. No fake five-star testimonials. No "Team RugRoom" bylines hiding a rotating cast.
• No paid placement. Brands named – Asiatic, Flair Rugs, Ruggable, Benuta – are named because they are stocked on Amazon.co.uk. We take no fee from any of them.

How the site earns

Corrections

Every page carries an "Updated" date. If a fact reads wrong to you, email us via the contact page – corrections are logged and the page is re-dated on publish.
